Kildare with it's lush green pastures and large tracts of ancient bogland is famous as a sporting, racing and hunting region.
Racing at the Curragh, Punchestown and Naas takes place all year round and boasts some of the biggest meetings in the country’s racing calendar, including the Irish Derby in June. County Kildare is home to the Irish National Stud and the neighbouring Japanese Gardens. Newbridge is the counties largest town with a population of over 20,000 and Kildare is the oldest town in the county.
